To hear family and friends joke around in such a way is almost offensive.
My grandparents tried to get me to sit down and watch the Oscars because ‘you’ll be on them someday.’
My friends always say ‘Don’t forget my backstage passes for when you’re on Broadway.”
My parents’ friends talk about the day they’ll see me in New York.
And some of my peers joke about how I want to be an actress (then, they usually reference film, which I would gladly do, but I prefer staged theatre).
It just hurts that much more to know how unlikely it will be that I will get there.
